After a winning start to their Championship campaign against Bearna Na Forbacha at home last weekend, Galway Bohs came back down to earth with a bang following a comprehensive defeat away to Athenry on Sunday.

An impressive Athenry side dominated possession for large periods of the game but still only led 1-0 with 20 minutes to go after Noah Ward and Daviti Tsikarishvili had both hit the crossbar at nil all. Bohs were left to rue a great chance to equalise early in the second half as the home side ran in a few late goals to seal victory with weary Bohs players tiring in the closing stages.

Despite the defeat, there were still some positive displays from keeper Adam Mulhaire, the central defensive unit of Aaron McDonough and Adam Gulec while Finn McCarthy battled his heart out in the opening half with a performance full of power and endeavour.

However, the outstanding player on show for Bohs was Lazare Clairon Hardy who was very impressive at left back in the first half and then showed his class and guile back in a more familiar midfield position in the second 45.

Next game is at home to Oughterard on Saturday 27th in Miller's Lane where all support would be much appreciated. Thanks to all who travelled to support the lads and gave lifts to Athenry 🔴⚪🔴⚪
