Galway Bohs U18s cruised through to the next of the Connacht Cup with a comprehensive victory over Renmore on Sunday. Games like this against lower ranked teams are often a potential banana skin for our lads but nerves were thankfully settled early on when Steven Soe Paing powered home a left foot volley from close range to put Bohs in front with barely a minute on the clock. Bohs continued to dominate possession and territory in the opening quarter and they went 2-0 up when a beautifully delivered corner from Lazare Clairon Hardy was finished off in ruthless fashion by Jed Shaughnessy. A potent mix of Harry Kane and Harry Maguire in their pomp, Shaughs was continuing his rich vein of scoring form and he will ensure that Noah and DMAG don't have it all their own way in the race for the much-coveted Golden Boot at the end of the season.
Another Bohs player in irrepressible form, Noah Ward grabbed the third of the afternoon for Bohs with a brilliant individual goal that gave a flat-footed Renmore keeper no chance. Number four was added just before half-time by Daniel Maguire who smashed home his second goal of the season to leave Bohs in a comfortable position at the break. It didn't take long for Bohs to get their fifth when Noah capitalised on a keeper error to grab his second of the afternoon, and it was great to see Ryszard Marazewski score his first goal in Bohs colours when producing a sublime finish on the hour mark to make it 6-0.
One of the best worked goals of the day was left to last as a corner routine straight off the training pitch saw a lovely weighted corner from Daviti Tsikarishvili find Finn McCarthy at the back post who headed back into the box to Noah who nodded home from close range to grab his hat-trick. An expected and routine victory maybe but still plenty to work on as standards and work rate dropped at times, too many touches were taken with Bohs coasting to victory from an early stage of the game and things like that will be punished severely if repeated in the weeks to come against Kinvara in the league and St Bernard's in the next round of the Connacht Cup.
Not many lads get a round of applause walking off the pitch but that was the case for Lazare who was the consummate professional as always at left back while Adam Mulhaire and the back five lads over the 90 minutes deserve great credit for keeping a clean sheet. A tough league assignment awaits on Saturday against Kinvara in Miller's Lane where all support from the Bohs Ultras will be much appreciated ⚽ 🔴⚪⚽
