Fahy Rovers 2 Galway Bohs 3
Bohs travelled to Mayo this afternoon to take on Fahy Rovers in the Connacht Trophy. A heavy pitch and terrible weather created impossible conditions to play football but the lads rallied and went to battle from the off.
Knowing a quick start was needed against the home side and the elements, Bohs didn't disappoint and 3 minutes in, Keelan Lillis got on the end of a Sean Duffy cross to make it 1-0 to the away side. Five minutes later, the same two combined to make it 2-0.
As the first half played out, the hosts capitalised on a poor Bohs corner and a deflected shot on the counter attack found it's way to the back of the net to make it 2-1 to Bohs at half time.
The second half saw Bohs play against the strong wind and rain and to a man, all 17 players put in a solid shift as they blocked and tackled every ball that came at them.
With 20 minutes to play, good Bohs pressure caused the home defender to deliberately handle the ball and concede a penalty, which Nathan Keane slotted away.
A late goal by the home side created some nerves at the back but the Bohs backline marshalled by captain Ryan Cubbard, held firm and saw out a good 3-2 win.
Big thanks to Fahy Rovers for the refreshments after the game and to all the parents who travelled to support us today.
